Description

Notice is hereby given by The City of Calgary of its intent to enter into an Agreement with McAsphalt Industries Limited (“Supplier”) for the supply of SS1 asphalt emulsion.

Background
The SS1 asphalt emulsion is a light application of a tack coat between hot mix asphalt layers and is designed to create a strong adhesive bond without slippage. Heavier application is used under porous layers or surround patches where is considered as a seal coat.
The SS1 have other more benefit as controlling the dust while paving, and stop pavement from disintegration etc.

Material
Before applying the tack coat SS1, the surface must be compacted, free from any clay, debris or any leafs.

The rate of emulsion application is determined by size of the surface to pave and the traffic of the roads is about 60% to 80% in temperature of 80 degrees Celsius.
