The City of Calgary (“The City”) has received increased requests for improved service in many forms, one of those being Snow and Ice Control (SNIC). The City is challenged with reducing its response time in providing various other SNIC services for the citizens of Calgary. The City will be contracting services to contractors to augment The City’s work force to ensure these services meet standards established by City Council.
The City is seeking multiple contractors to assist The City by providing snow and ice control services on The City’s roadway and pathway/sidewalk networks, as part of the Snow and Ice Control program (as defined in Appendix F) on an ‘as and when required’ basis.
For clarity, at all times during the Term, The City has sole and unfettered discretion in determining whether it requires the contractors to perform such snow and ice control services.
It is the expectation of The City that the contractors will start clearing their route when directed to by The City (within three hours’ notice).
There are THREE (3) schedules:
- Schedule A01 – District and Transit Roadway Trouble Spots Snow and Ice Control
A contractor is required to plow and sand/salt District and Transit Roadway Trouble Spot areas throughout The City.
- Schedule A02 – Pedestrian and Transit Infrastructure Snow and Ice Control - North
Contractors are required to provide snow clearing/removal services on portions of The City’s pedestrian and transit network.
- Schedule A03 – Pedestrian and Transit Infrastructure Snow and Ice Control - South
Contractors are required to provide snow clearing/removal services on portions of The City’s pedestrian and transit network.
Proponent Response to Schedules:
Proponent may respond to one (1) or more schedules. Each separate Proposal cover page or cover letter should clearly state the schedules Proponent is responding to.
- Schedule A01 requires a separate proposal.
- Proposals for Schedule A02 and Schedule A03 can be submitted in one proposal but Appendix B (Submission Form), C (Pricing Form), E (Multi-Party Confirmation Form) and P (List of Equipment) must be submitted separately for Schedule A02 and A03.
The City intend to award Schedule A02 and A03 to two (2) separate contractors. The City will evaluate Schedule A02 first and the highest rated Proponent in Schedule A02 will be excluded from consideration of award for Schedule A03.
