The CPS is investigating the marketplace for vehicle stopping equipment in order to minimize the risk involved when handling vehicle-based events, such as stolen vehicles and for preventing potential pursuits. Once in motion, at high rates of speed, vehicles are extremely difficult to stop and can be used as a weapon, directly or indirectly, against the public and police officers. The CPS is interested in information specifically for equipment that is portable and can be stored in police vehices and equipment that can be used to either disable entirely or prevent vehicles from moving from a point of rest, or slow, disable, or safely terminate vehicles in motion.
