Description

The City requires a transportation engineering consultant experienced in the identification of alternative technologies for commercial fleets and the analysis of the applicability and feasibility of each potential option.

It is anticipated that the alternative fuel study will be completed in multiple phases as follows:

  1. PHASE 1 SCOPE – ALTERNATIVE FUEL OPTIONS STUDY
The completion of an alternative fuel study for Calgary’s fleet of refuse trucks consisting of operational data collection and analysis, a vehicle needs analysis, an investigation on facility impacts and requirements, a market investigation on what options are available, a feasibility assessment including cost/benefit analysis of each potential technology option, and a summary report and presentation of findings.

  1. POTENTIAL PHASE 2 SCOPE – TECHNOLOGY PILOT STUDY
Informed through the analysis completed under Phase 1, this scope may be considered if any technologies identified merit additional investigation. This scope may include the design and implementation of a pilot project to support in-field testing of an alternative fuel technology, including technology procurement, performance data collection and validation, and results reporting.

Unless otherwise stated in the Agreement Letter, the initial award will be only for Phase 1.  Phase 2 is included as a possible extension to the scope of work of the Consultant but will not be guaranteed at this time.  Should Phase 2 be awarded to the Consultant, depending on their performance for the first phase of construction, their services may be extended to include future phases within this development.  Note that The City reserves the right to go back to market for Phase 2 if future circumstances suggest this to be the best approach to engage a consultant for this work.
